How to show-hide file extensions in Windows 7 as well how to view hidden files and folders
Click the Start Button and then My Computer.
Click Tools and then Folder Options.
Within the Folder Options window click the View tab.
In the View tab, under Advanced Settings, select Show hidden files, folders and drives.
Click Apply, then OK.
